🔬 WES — Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS): 0.05 mg/m³ (8-hr TWA). High risk threshold: >0.025 mg/m³. Brick & Block Wet Cutting is classified HIGH risk pre-control (masonry ~20–40% RCS). On-tool water suppression plus the Appendix 4 controls below must be applied. If correctly applied, air monitoring is not required.

EElimination / Substitution: Wet cutting selected — continuous on-tool water suppression applied, cutting airborne RCS at source.
EngEngineering: On-tool water suppression fed and running at all times during cutting (primary control). H-class vacuum (≥99.995% filtration) for slurry & residual dust.
AdminAdministrative: Establish an exclusion zone min. 4m from cutting. No other workers in zone. Wet-wipe only — no dry sweeping. Cutting outdoors or in cross-ventilated area.
PPERPE Required: Minimum P2 half-face respirator (AS/NZS 1716). Fit tested annually. Coveralls, safety glasses & gloves.

PCBU Obligation: Health monitoring must be arranged and funded by the PCBU for all workers who are, or are likely to be, significantly exposed to RCS — WHS Reg 2025, s.368(a) & Schedule 14.
Health Monitoring Triggers:

Worker has worn RPE for 30 or more days in the preceding 12 months on tasks involving RCS exposure.

Air monitoring results indicate potential WES exceedance (>0.05 mg/m³ RCS TWA).
